Suicide Survivor Services
A suicide survivor is someone who has lost a loved one to suicide. Losing a loved to suicide can be extremely painful. The grieving process can be long and difficult. The Helpline Center provides several services specifically designed to support survivors as they are coping with their loss.

The Helpline Center is available 24-hours a day to listen and provide support for any survivor by calling 211 or (605) 339-4357.

Packets

These packets are filled with helpful information and resources about the grief process. They are given or mailed to any survivor that requests one in South Dakota. Please contact the Helpline Center to request a packet.

Classes
A nine-week educational/support class for survivors after suicide is offered in Sioux Falls three times a year at no charge. The class is structured with specific topics discussed each week and is taught by a survivor and mental health professional. Any survivor is welcome, however pre-registration is required. Support Group
A monthly support group facilitated by a survivor, who is a social worker, is provided at no charge. The group is an open support group that is unstructured.

Newsletter
A newsletter is produced for any survivor wishing to be on our mailing list. It contains inspirational poems, articles and the latest information about survivor services.

LOSS Program
This program, Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors, works with the Sioux Falls Police Department and Minnehaha County Sheriff's Department to provide a volunteer support team visit to survivors immediately following the news of their loved one's death. The team members consist of volunteer mental health professionals and volunteer survivors.
