     The Mobile Food Pantry, a program of Feeding South Dakota, distributes free food to individuals and families at General Beadle Elementary monthly. Each family receives approximately 30 pounds of food. The types of food distributed vary depending on what is available at the current time. Distributions operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Distributions occur outdoors. It is recommended to bring a container to carry groceries. Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes prior to distribution.

People can come work in the warehouse on a voluntary basis to earn points to exchange for household goods, food boxes, personal care items, laundry supplies and baby supplies in the incentive based points store.

The Food Pantry provides individuals and families with a 3 – 5 day supply of food once every 90 days. The Food Pantry also distributes the Emergency Family Assistance Program through the Pantry. Food distributed is collected through food drives, private donations, the Food Bank, retail partner pick-ups, and government commodity programs.

Yankton Food for Thought 

     Currently provides food through two programs.
The sack pack program provides packs on a weekly basis to school aged children in need of food over the weekend. The school staff assist in      determining the children in need as well as help distribute the packs. The school food pantry is open to any families with children attending school in the Yankton school district. The pantry is open twice a month usually on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month.
