4th of July, 2020 Celebration Event Information (including Fireworks Displays)

The best and safest way to enjoy fireworks is to go to a public firework display and leave the lighting to the professionals. Here is information about events across South Dakota.

Aberdeen

  • Saturday, July 4
    • Aquatic Center  
      • 12:00noon – 6:00pm – This is the only time during Summer 2020 the Aquatic Center will be open to the public.
    • Wylie Park 
      • 7:00pm – Aqua Addicts Ski Team Performance

    • 7:00pm – 10:00pm – 2nd performance of the 101st Annual Black Hills Roundup – Chutes for Charity Night at the Roundup Grounds.

  • Friday, July 3
    • 8:00am – 2:00pm – Slack: All timed events, at the Roundup Grounds.  Free Admission.
    • 7:00pm – 10:00pm – 3rd performance of the 101st Annual Black Hills Roundup – Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night, at the Roundup Grounds.

  • Saturday, July 4
    • 10:30am – 11:45am – 101st Annual Black Hills Roundup Grand Parade, through downtown Belle Fourche.
    • 3:00pm – 5:45pm – 4th performance of the 101st Annual Black Hills Roundup – Military and First Responders Appreciation Night at the Roundup Grounds.  Tickets available here.
    • 6:00pm – 1:00am – Street Dance on State Street, downtown Belle Fourche.  Free Admission.

    • 10:00pm – Fireworks display at Ravine Lake. Patriotic music will be played on 1340AM KIJV during the show

    • 10:30am – 4th of July Parade kicked off by Vanguard Squadron flyover
    • 12:00noon – 5:00pm – Arts in the Park at Westerman park, featuring craft and food vendors plus:
      • 1:00pm – Little Miss Lennox Contest
      • 1:30pm – 4:00pm Live music 
    • 12:00 Noon – 4:00pm – Car Show at the Old Football Field
    • 2:00pm – Kiddy Tractor Pull on park Drive near the band shell.  Open for ages 4 -11 years old.

Rapid City

    • Celebration at Mt. Rushmore – Afternoon programming and evening fireworks display will be limited to ticket lottery winners only.  Please visit https://www.travelsouthdakota.com/mount-rushmore-fireworks for complete details on national park access and highway closures. 
    • 6:30pm – Live stream Festivities from the Celebration at Mt. Rushmore in the Main Street Square, free admission.  Event includes coverage of President Trump and Vice President Pence followed by the fireworks.  Refreshments and entertainment available.  Hosted by the Pennington County Republicans. 
  • Saturday, July 4 
    • Dusk: Fireworks display at Arrowhead Country Club – Executive Golf Course, 210 Founders Park (Rain date July 5th)
    • After Races: Black Hills Speedway, after races – 2467 Jolly Lane (Rain date July 5th)
    • 10pm, after game: Post 22 Baseball,  – Floyd Fitzgerald Stadium, 2721 Canyon Lake Drive

Sioux Falls

  • Saturday, July 4
    • One Sioux Falls 4th Virtual 5k
      • Participate by running or walking a 5k route provided on the City’s Independence Day Celebration website (https://www.siouxfalls.org/july4)  and share your photos or videos by using the hashtag #OneSiouxFalls4th!
    • One Sioux Falls Virtual Parade
      • Participate by celebrating Independence Day where you are, doing the things you love, by sharing your photos and videos with the hashtag #OneSiouxFalls4th, and follow along by seeing other’s memories shared on the City’s Independence Day Celebration website.
    • Fireworks display.  Fireworks will be shot off from Elmwood Golf Course at dusk.  People are encouraged to watch the show from their cars while parked in northwest Sioux Falls (please see information below).  Patriotic music will accompany the show by tuning to Sunny 93.3fm radio.
