Survivors of Suicide Loss Day Butterfly Release

Butterfly Release on Nov. 23
To commemorate International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day on Saturday, November 22, the Helpline Center is hosting a butterfly release on that day for families who’ve lost loved ones to suicide. The free event will take place at 1:00pm at the Butterfly House and Aquarium located at 4320 S Oxbow Avenue in Sioux Falls.
Each year more than 48,000 people die in the United States by suicide, leaving friends and family grieving and struggling to understand and cope. Several recent studies of survivors of suicide loss found that feelings of belongingness, talking about the loss, and social support play critical roles in helping recovery and growth after the loss.
