Community Services Program at Inter-Lakes Community Action Partnership

ICAP Community Services offers the following:
Case Management & Protective Payee Services: Case management assists participants to create a self-sufficiency plan, which sets out goals that the participant will work toward with the support of a Community Service Worker (CSW). Protective payee services is where the participant is provided financial management education and the CSW controls the participant's income, pays bills, buys groceries, other necessities, and in general manages the participant's finances for a period of time.
Information & Referral: Community Service Workers provide information regarding the services available from ICAP and other providers (Social Service, County Welfare, etc.).
School supplies: Helps lower-income families by providing some or all of the basic necessities to the student. School supplies are distributed in August.

Provides school supplies for school age children.
Also accepts school supply donations. Offers pick-up for donations.

Spanish-Speaking Community Group Program at Bienvenidos a Brookings
Brookings Site
Works to bring immigrants, immigrant advocates, and non-immigrant community members together to deepen their relationships and cultural understanding. Nearly all efforts are focused on Latin immigrants.
Immigrant families in need are provided food, furniture, school supplies, household items, and diapers.
Also provides organizing community English classes and connecting ESL volunteers with new English language learners, networking with immigration service providers in Eastern South Dakota, creating a general referral service for immigrants needing assistance, arranging translation services when needed, assisting families with their efforts to change immigration status, and community outreach to educate the non-immigrant community about obstacles immigrants experience in the Brookings area.
