Helpline Center Events
Each year the Helpline Center hosts several signature events. We hope you'll join us at one of our events as we bring our community together to build awareness and support of our programs. If you'd like to learn more about our events and how to get involved, contact us by calling 211.
As our communities and state continue to experience the loss of our family and friends to suicide, the Step Forward to Prevent Suicide event promotes hope and healing and raises awareness and support for the Helpline Center's local suicide prevention and survivor support programs. 100% of proceeds stay local!
13th Annual Step Forward to Prevent Suicide
Date: Saturday, June 8th at 9:00 a.m.
Location: Fawick Park
Participants have the opportunity to hear from an honorary speaker, listen while loved ones names are read aloud during the remembrance ceremony, and participate in a 1.5 mile walk. We encourage people to put together a team or register as an individual as we continue to step forward to prevent suicide and support those bereaved by loss.
If you are interested in getting involved in the support of this event, please contact us at donate@helplinecenter.org.

September 19-22, 2024
The Helpline Center has been privileged to be the recipient of the funds raised the past two years through The 437 Project. The funds have been instrumental in allowing the Helpline Center to enhance and provide critical programming activities for mental health promotion, suicide prevention, and suicide aftercare support.
A group of twelve runners is made up of community leaders who will stop at nothing to influence and create positive change in the Mount Rushmore State. On Thursday, September 19th, runners will depart from the west side of the state to begin the 437 mile relay-style journey. Tackling the ever-changing South Dakota weather and terrain, runners will connect with communities as they raise funds and awareness for this initiative, finishing in Sioux Falls on Sunday, September 22nd.

The Spirit of Volunteerism Awards are held each spring in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. The Helpline Center Volunteer Connections programs seek nominations from our community in the following categories: youth, adult, group and corporate humanitarian. Nominations are then reviewed by a panel of community leaders and winners are announced at the event. The Spirit of Volunteerism awards have been recognizing the exemplary efforts of volunteers for more than 35 years.
