Program Information
The Register of Deeds records various real estate documents, such as deeds, mortgages, plats, mechanics liens, etc., and military discharge records;and files federal tax liens, state tax liens, state unemployment tax liens, hospital liens, UCC financing statements, hospital liens, new business names, etc.
The office also issues marriage licenses, birth certificates, death certificates and marriage certificates, depending on year of event, from any county in South Dakota regardless of where in South Dakota the event occurred.
