Program Information

The Central Registry is a computer system that stores private information about parents or other caretakers who have a court finding of child abuse or neglect or a substantiated report of child abuse or neglect found by the Department of Social Services' Division of Child Protection Services (CPS).

The Central Registry is not available to the public and is not a sex offender registry.

By law only certain entities can check a name against the list. Places such as schools, hospitals, and drug/alcohol facilities cannot check names against the list.

Eligibility

Your name can be put on the Central Registry if you are a parent or other caretaker who has a court finding of child abuse or neglect, or who has a substantiated report of child abuse or neglect found by CPS, or if you have a conviction of certain crimes against a child.

Application Process

After 5 years there are certain requirements that must be met to have your name removed from the list. Names are not automatically removed from the list. Call for more information to find out if you are eligible to have your name removed from the list. The Central Registry is not available to the public and is not a sex offender registry.
