SALSA – Serve & Learn Student Association

At the Helpline Center, we believe in the power of volunteerism to shape lives and strengthen communities, especially when youth are involved. That’s why we lead the Serve & Learn Student Association (SALSA), a volunteer-focused program for high school students across the Sioux Empire area.  

With over 500 participants from nine area high schools, SALSA connects students with local nonprofit organizations to engage in meaningful volunteer service. Through hands-on opportunities, students contribute to community needs, explore their interests and experience the real-world impact of giving back.  

Monthly school-based meetings feature presentations from nonprofit partners and on-site service projects. Students also take part in larger group volunteer outings planned by a committee of their peers.  

By participating in SALSA, students earn volunteer hours while building leadership skills, exploring career paths and discovering the lifelong value of service.
